About Us

Ammons Middle School is an International Education Magnet, Miami-Dade school of choice. The school follows the curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organization Middle Years Programme. As a school we emphasize the principles inherent in that program as well as a rigorous curriculum while maintaining a focus on reading and technology.

Ammons opened in September 1997 and moved to its current site in September 1998.

Ammons Middle School has won many awards in the intervening years. We have achieved:

The school was named for Herbert A. Ammons (1914-1991) who was an educator, civic activist and Boy Scout Leader in the Richmond Heights community. He was a teacher at Mays Senior High School and Homestead Junior High School.
